Reverend L. John Gable, Senior Pastor

I have been pastor at Tab since November, 2007, and feel very blessed to be here.

My wife, Kristin, and I met at Hanover College, so it is good to be back in the Hoosier state. We’ve been married since 1979 and have two grown children–Timm, who works for an advertising firm in Milwaukee, and Jenny, who lives in Naperville, Illinois, with her husband, Aaron.

I grew up in St. Louis and after graduating from Hanover went to Princeton Theological Seminary. I have served Presbyterian churches in Mansfield, Ohio; Waterloo, Iowa; and Mequon (suburban Milwaukee), Wisconsin, prior to being called to Tab. 

I love just spending time with Kristin, and our kids when we can, as well as playing games with our friends. I love to travel, play my guitar and sing. I enjoy golf in the summer and badminton in the winter. I also currently serve on the board of Youth Conference Ministries out of Chattanooga, TN.

In a word, I am “grateful” for the gifts and opportunities which God has given me and believe I have been “blessed to be a blessing.” I am grateful for this opportunity to serve as pastor of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church and I look forward to getting the chance to be introduced to you.

Oscar Clavel, Associate Pastor

Oscar Clavel is from Louisville, Kentucky. He is a 2007 graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey, and a 2003 graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Waxahachie, Texas. He also received certification in Clinical Pastoral Education at Norton and Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville in 2006.

He has served as a pastoral resident at Valley Forge Presbyterian Church in King of Prussia, PA; as an intern assistant to the Program Director of the Self-Development of People program for the PCUSA in Louisville, KY; and as a youth director at Beechmont Presbyterian Church in Louisville. He also has extensive national and international mission trip experience, and is fluent in both English and Spanish. He presented devotional homilies for the Presbyterian Hispanic Pastoral Development Seminar in 2003 and 2005.
