| What is Te Deum telling us? The stained glass is old and the text is ancient. We
could stare passively at the images and read the words with a historian’s
eye. Or we could let them speak to us in an intimate way. We would like you to know that Jesus Christ was more than just a wise man. We believe that he was God who came to earth to live as one of us--fully God and fully human--experiencing what we experience. Why would God do this? Well, we don't fully understand it ourselves, but we believe that God loved us so much that he sent his Son, Jesus, to be with us; so that if we believe in him, trust him, and live as he taught us, we will not only have eternal life, but we can also change our lives, our neighborhoods and our world for the better. God is not some impersonal "force" way out there. He is as close as our heartbeat; as near as our next breath. And he loves each of us in a way we can't imagine. You can learn more (or find something you’ve lost) by reading about Jesus in the Gospels found in the Bible, God's word to us. The Gospel of John is a good place to start. You can also find out about him at your local church. If you don't have one, you are invited to hear about him at Tab this Sunday. |
