Hands-on Ministry
Tab offers members a number of opportunities to provide personal and immediate demonstrations of God’s love.
Tab’s Open Door Ministry
Tab serves meals to our neighbors every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. More than 800 people come through our doors each month for a hot lunch, food to take home to families, fellowship and spiritual care.
Tab’s Benevolence Program
Tab provided emergency assistance (food, clothing, utilities assistance) and direct support to more than 100 families in 2009, while also referring individuals with additional needs to partners in ministry and appropriate agencies for substance abuse, mental health, HIV/ AIDS support, housing and other longer-term services.
Fresh Start Tutoring
Register Your Child for Tutoring here. Complete the form and return it to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, IPS 48 or The Oaks Academy.
Tab’s “Fresh Start” Tutoring Ministry will begin its third year on Thursday, September 16th from 4:00 to 5:15 pm. This ministry meets every Thursday and follows the IPS calendar. Consider joining Tab’s team of volunteers. Make a difference in the lives of the children in our neighborhood–parents are already contacting us, wanting to enroll their children. If you wish to volunteer, plan on attending the training session and one of the two workshops below. These sessions, held at Tab, are for new and seasoned volunteers.
Training and Q & A Session — August 26, 4:00 to 5:00 pm
Workshop: Math and Scripture Verse, K to 3rd Grade focus – September 2, 2:00 to 3:30 pm
Workshop: Math and Scripture Verse, 4th to 6th Grade focus – September 2, 4:00 to 5:30 pm
There are many ways to help besides becoming a weekly or bi-weekly volunteer. Donate basic school supplies, make a monetary gift for additional student learning materials, and pray. For more information and answers to your questions, contact Ann Weller (317) 696-3295, ann.p.weller@gmail.com.
Tab: Beacon of Hope Class
This Sunday School class provided mission education and support for Tab members and our neighbors.
Recreation Ministry
One of Tab’s most-storied programs, the Rec Ministry always needs volunteers for a range of needs. For more information, go to: www.tabrecreation.org.
Habitat for Humanity
A number of TAB members participated in Habitat for Humanity projects this year, initiating what we expect to be a long-term relationship.
