‘Children and Youth’

Register Your Child for Tutoring

Tab’s “Fresh Start” Tutoring, a ministry to students K-6 in the Mapleton-Fall Creek neighborhood, begins Thursday, September 16th from 4:00 to 5:15 pm at Tab.  We meet every Thursday and follow the IPS calendar.

Registration is now open to the first 40 students.  After 40 complete registrations are received, a wait list will be created.  Click here for the registration form.  Return completed registration forms to: Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, IPS School 48, or The Oaks.

Where are the kids while the adults are in worship?

During the worship services at 9:00 and 11:00, students are welcome to sit with their parents or caregivers.  After the Children’s Sermon, students (K-4th) are invited to go downstairs with their teachers to Junior Church.  If your family has arrived at 10:00 for Sunday School, just bring the children downstairs to the children’s area.

What is Junior Church?

Junior Church is a time of fellowship and learning for our younger elementary students.  Students in grades K-4 participate in singing, Bible memory verses, snack, crafts, games, and learning about the various elements of worship

What goes on during the Sunday School hour (10:00 to 11:00)?

Our B.L.A.S.T. workshops teach children in grades K through 6 about the various people, events and main concepts of the Bible.  Each week, the students are divided by grade into groups which rotate through a set of workshops designed to engage and instruct students by letting them explore their God-given abilities and interests within the Bible-based lesson framework.  Workshops include gardening, science, puppetry, cooking, drama, art, geography, architecture, storytelling, games, and dance.

Is there programming for preschoolers?

Yes.  Bring your child downstairs any time after 8:50 on Sunday morning.  We have two different classes–Toddlers/2s class and Preschool–where you child will enjoy and learn appropriate Bible songs and lessons while you are involved in adult fellowship, worship, and education.  We have a large pool of loving, experienced volunteers each week during worship services and the education hour.

What about infants?

We have a beautiful nursery with loving, screened, well-trained nursery attendants.  Just come in the doors off the main parking lot, go up a half flight and turn right down the hallway.  The nursery is at the end of the hall.

I have teenagers.  Is there something for them on Sunday morning?

During the Sunday School hour from 10:00-11:00, Jr High students gather upstairs in the Blue Room on the gym  balcony for discussion of faith issues.  High School students go to the Red Room on the balcony, where they dig into specific Bible topics.

There are many more opportunities for youth during the week.
